Brimming with the familiar ambiance and charm as the original Bar Tulia on 5th Avenue, a second Naples location of the favorite, neighborhood bar and restaurant has opened in local hotspot, the Mercato.
Stevens Construction provided an interior and exterior transformation of a vacant space that previously housed a limited-menu wine bar to a full-service restaurant and bar led by Naples culinary trendsetter, Chef Vincenzo Betulia. Open daily from 11:30 to midnight, Bar Tulia embodies a European farmhouse design with wood beams, tin ceilings, barn doors and brick flooring coupled with fun accompaniments such as futuristic chandeliers, industrial pipe shelving and even a disco ball. Guests seated in the bar have front row view (and smell) to the signature pizzas baking in Bar Tulia’s custom, hand-tiled, Italian pizza oven.
In collaboration with the design team, Stevens Construction removed three existing parking spots to create an expanded outdoor seating area enhanced by decorative bollards, ornamental lighting and landscaping to accommodate up to 50 alfresco diners.
The existing kitchen did not have the appropriate exhaust to serve Bar Tulia’s needs, so a complete redesign and mechanical system upgrade was required. Stevens Construction worked closely with the mechanical contractor to install the new system which entailed the addition of 40 feet of ductwork. The complex ductwork installation required going into the tenant space above the restaurant which is an operational movie theater. Stevens Construction carefully coordinated with the theater and subcontractors to ensure as minimal disruption as possible and the theater was back up and running before the Thanksgiving movie releases.
The entire six-month project was delivered to the client three weeks ahead of schedule.
Bar Tulia Mercato is owned by the Campagna Hospitality Group (CHG), which operates Osteria Tulia, Bar Tulia and The French, which Stevens
Construction completed in 2017.
